Just north of Hershey we pulled off the road across from a power transformer station and got a peek at the few cranes pictured here heading to their nightly roosting place.
If you are not familiar with the Platte River, here is a short description: The North Platte River has headwaters in north central Colorado. The river flows horth into Wyoming and then east to Nebraska. The South Platte River has two forks that have headwaters in our own Park County, Colorado. One of the forks runs right past our liquor store in Bailey. After the forks join southwest of Denver, Colorado, the river flows out of the northeast cornerof Colordo into Nebraska. The North and South forks join at North Platte, Nebraska. The Platte joins the Missouri River on the east side of Omaha, Nebraska. Water from the Platte will eventually flow into the Mississippi River and then into the Gulf of Mexico.
